We’re happy to announce four new Essay Rock Star short courses for middle and high school students! Each course trains kids in our five step writing process to help master multi-paragraph essay writing skills. The short courses are $37 apiece and and are fully proctored by a professional teacher. This way you, parents, get to take a break with the confidence that your kids are being guided by competent instructors.

Give yourself permission NOT to do it all on your own!

These courses were created to give your family the opportunity to sample our online system and teaching method without making a big financial commitment at the start. There's a two week guarantee from the time your kids start the course for a full refund if you find it's just not the right fit. In other words, you can buy the course now, begin when it works for your schedule, and still be able to get a refund if needed.

Below are brief descriptions of the four short courses. The duration of each is about four to six weeks.

Essay Rock Star's Personal Statement Short Course

In this short course, students learn to write a specific essay type called the personal statement, also known as a personal narrative. College applications almost always require a “tell us about yourself” or personal statement essay. Here, kids learn to get comfortable writing about themselves and get strong essay writing skills training as they're taken through a five step writing process. Essay Rock Star's Persuasive Essay Short Course

Students in this short course learn to write a persuasive essay successfully. This type of essay is important because the writing sections of most college entrance exams like the SAT (Scholastic Aptitude Test) require persuasive essay writing, and there's a specific strategy kids need to use to score well on them. We make sure your kids have that strategy firmly ingrained as they improve their writing and editing skills overall. For more information, visit http://www.writingrockstars.com/persuasive.

Essay Rock Star's Expository Essay Short Course

The expository essay is the most common essay form and it's often requested in high school, college, and in the workplace. An expository essay explains or inform an audience objectively about a specific subject. In this short course your kids will be taught several approaches on how to give clear and thorough written explanations about their topic of choice. For example, they could explain a step by step process, give a general overview, classify their topic into several types, or compare and contrast different aspects of their topic. Again, they're also trained in our five step writing process. For more information, visit http://www.writingrockstars.com/expository.

Essay Rock Star's Textual Analysis Short Course

A textual analysis essay requires students to write a review on someone else’s work. Book reviews, movie reviews, and product reviews are all examples of textual analysis essays. The textual analysis is very helpful to your kids’ education because it makes them practice their critical thinking skills quite a bit. Not only are they taught to make objective observations, but they’re also taught to back up those observations with clear and specific examples. The textual analysis essay short course in particular trains kids to prepare carefully thought out, well supported arguments as well as learn our five step writing process. Our Writing Process

The 5-step writing process we use in all our Essay Rock Star courses is focused on getting kids to express their thoughts and share their ideas fully in writing first, build their confidence, and make writing feel less difficult for them. We don't worry about spelling, grammar and punctuation initially, but we do address that in the later steps of the writing process. When it comes to grammar and punctuation, we train kids to learn to become independent editors of their own work. We don't do their corrections for them!
