It’s Father’s Day this Sunday. Are you ready?

In some families, it’s a big special day. In others, it’s a quiet acknowledgment.

Either way, most of us give the fathers in our family a Father’s Day card. As parents, there’s nothing we cherish more than a hand made card from our kids.

But sitting down to write something super special in only a few short lines can be a real struggle!

Here are two strategies to help your kids write that imperfect — yet absolutely perfect — Father’s Day card.

1) First, get specific. The more specific the message, the more personal it is.

• What makes him special to you?
• Was there something important he did for you over the past year?
  
• What do you love most about him right now?
  
• How do you feel about him and why?

A great Father’s Day card doesn’t need to be grammatically perfect. What it needs is a great message, and that means great content.

After all, great content is the first priority for all great writing!

2) Once the content is chosen, write it out it by hand on a separate sheet of paper to make sure it all fits in the space on the card.

It'll look better if the size of the handwriting is consistent and not too cramped at the end.
