What our parents say about Writing Rockstars and our Research Paper Rockstar program:

This [research paper] information never made sense to me in high school, so I appreciated how you spelled it all out, and I like how you keep referencing how this all will help kids once they are in college.
~ Rhonda Brougher

Thank you, Lily for all your wisdom and help! Thank you for your patience as well as Jack’s summer was very busy and I know his work was sometimes slow to be turned in. He enjoyed working with you, and Darrel and I appreciate your positive support! The Research Paper Rockstar program has been a good experience for us. It met a need we definitely had! Thanks again!
~ Darrel and Stephanie Gudeman

Thank you so much for helping me with this class. I really enjoyed it. I have learned all the steps to become the best writer that I can be. I would highly recommend these classes.
~ Julia McAdam

I thought it was an excellent course. Also, I liked the fact that each lesson had a specific focus, and there was lot of support materials and examples. The feedback helped me turn my essay into a piece I am satisfied with.
~ Tessa Flesher
What is a Research Paper?
When assigned a Research Paper, students are tasked to investigate a subject they know little to nothing about in-depth and present what they learn in writing.
- Your kids’ findings must be truthful and accurate.
- Their conclusions must be objective -- examining all perspectives.
- AND both of the above must be supported by credible information.
This requires excellent research and critical thinking skills.
That’s what your kids learn in Research Paper Rockstar.
Research Paper Rockstar is an online writing program for teens that teaches kids how to write a research paper using a self-paced mastery learning approach:
- Your kids work on their course at their own pace at any time of day.
- There are no deadlines. Parents and teens set their own schedule for completion.
- Our lessons, audios, videos, resource articles, templates and completed work samples are all pre-loaded into our online learning platform.
Why Hundreds of Parents Choose Us

A live human professional teacher is assigned to your teenager and works with them one-on-one for the duration of the course. The teacher gets to know your kid’s strengths and weaknesses and coaches them to develop as researchers and writers.
While your teen works their way through their Research Paper Rockstar course, their live human teacher is available Monday-Friday to help them with their work, give them feedback on their assignments, answer questions, and coach them through our research and 5-step writing composition process.
The teacher is present online alongside your teen until they meet expectations or achieve a level of mastery for each step of our writing process, at which point the teacher unlocks the next lesson.
Students are never bored with the Research Paper Rockstar curriculum and learning process. After completing assignments, students are awarded with fun badges and look forward to getting more!
Research Paper Rockstar’s online program brings together the best of two worlds:
Our students get one-on-one, individualized attention from an experienced professional teacher AND the flexibility and freedom of online learning.
What do my kids get besides good grades in college?
Research and critical thinking skills are key to identifying and solving problems. When something isn’t working, you have to research and use critical thinking skills to figure out why.
Research expands knowledge, while critical thinking skills identify what information is credible and what isn't. These skills teach your kids to ask important questions and make informed decisions.
Your kids will make better choices in their daily lives. Combined with strong writing skills, they can help others do the same.
With these skills, your kids will be primed for success in college, the workplace... and life!

Here’s more of what kids and parents have to say:

I was not a very confident writer and had never used a writing program, but after seeing how easy the five steps where it became easier to add more thoughts and arguments to my essay, and having someone that responds quickly and helps you throughout the whole time is a great feature that helps with any questions you have with you're writing. Overall it’s a great program to have.!
~ Noah Hudson

I really think your Rockstar concept is awesome! I have always loved to write, and it really didn't matter the purpose, but my boys HATE writing. I showed them the program and they thought it looked really cool, and actually got excited about it, which helps me feel optimistic about tackling this subject with my boys!
~ Melissa McCurry

Thank you so much for working with Evan. You gave him the accountability and encouragement he needed. I am very impressed with what he turned out!
~ Erica Onorato

So far, this has been a great thing for both of us. She is getting feedback from someone other than mom, and taking it at her own pace is greatly reducing stress and anxiety for her. Thanks so much for all your input so far.
~ RuthAnn Bamford

My experience using the online classroom was awesome! I really enjoyed the simple structure of the classes, it was easy to follow. I was thankful for the example pages provided, it helped me understand the tasks more fully.
Everything seemed perfect; my teacher’s feedback was helpful and clear, and always cheerful!
~ Stephenie Jefferson

All of your tips have helped me to learn how to identify what to cut and what to leave in editing, and how to make my writing flow more seamlessly. I really appreciated the flexibility of the course, too, as it allowed me to work throughout the year and work around other commitments and courses.
Thank you so much for your guidance and feedback throughout the past school year — I will definitely recommend Writing Rockstars to other homeschooled students in the future.
~ Katy Rosnau
Are you wondering if
Research Paper Rockstar is right for your child?
We're glad you asked. Let’s break it down!

Who this program is for…
Research Paper Rockstar was originally designed to be a homeschool writing curriculum.
This program is for students who have completed our Essay Rockstar program, OR for students who have mastered the non-fiction essay elsewhere.
We serve ANY teens who don’t have the research paper writing skills they need for college.
Research Paper Rockstar is NOT for...
Kids who ARE NOT YET able to write a full page essay.
Trying to learn multi-paragraph writing and research skills at the same time is too much to learn at once.
We want our students prepared to succeed in Research Paper Rockstar.
If we find a student isn’t yet ready for Research Paper Rockstar, we issue a full refund and invite them register for our Essay Rockstar program.

Our students generally range in age from 13 to 18 years. When our teachers identify advanced writers, they adjust the assignments so all our students are challenged.
Advanced students will be guided to finish the course with a 5-7 page double spaced research paper, while younger students will write a 3-5 page research paper.
Our worldview is neutral. Students pick their own topics for their research papers, and
our teachers have no opinions on the topics chosen.
In Research Paper Rockstar, your teens will learn how to:

✍️ Investigate and choose a suitable subject for a research paper
✍️ Find credible sources
✍️ Take the right amount of research notes
✍️ Keep their research notes organized
✍️ Choose a focus and scope for their research paper
✍️ Incorporate their research into a paper
✍️ Paraphrase -- and not plagiarize -- research notes
✍️ Cite all sources in their research paper correctly
✍️ Write their finished formal research paper using our 5-step writing composition process
and MORE!

More testimonials from our amazing parents on Writing Rockstars programs:

Thank you for being such a wonderful teacher and positive reinforcement for my daughter Melissa. She has always been a strong writer, but I really wanted her to have someone other than Mom to critique her work and offer constructive feedback. She has greatly enjoyed working with you and the program, even though she did take some liberty to 'stretch it out' a bit longer than I had hoped for.
It was wonderful to just be able to sit back and watch the interaction, and see her respond to your suggestions with vigor. As Melissa finishes her senior year, graduates, and moves on to college, I know that the skills she learned from your course will go a long way towards helping her grow as a writer.
~ Erica Beyea

I can't thank you enough for the support, encouragement and feedback you provided. It was amazing to see and hear her excitement about writing! I have nothing but praise for your dedication and instruction - and cannot stress enough how your positive feedback and encouragement to Jenna made this a great experience for her.
~ Melissa Babbidge

I just wanted to say how thankful I am for your teaching writing to my son. I am so happy I chose your program. I appreciate all the critique and feedback you give him. I am confident that by the end of this program, he will be ready to take English 101 at the community college.
~ Christine Abrahims

I love to write and yet faced with my first high school student in our homeschool, I was afraid that I would not be able to TEACH writing. I was so excited to see that the way you teach is precisely the way I was taught. I am more confident now that she will be able to work with her professors and I can begin to let go :)
Thank you for giving me this opportunity to test the waters as I've been her only teacher since birth! :) Again, I look forward to seeing her progress in her writing in the next courses! P.S. My husband and I are both graduates of Cornell University.
~ Claudia Lee

Thank you so much for working so patiently with Isaac through this course! Writing does not come easily to him, and having you there to encourage him step-by-step helped to boost his confidence and grow him in this area. So, thank you so much!
3 of our kids have been through your program, 2 more to go!
~ Shannon Ebbers
