Election day is always an excellent opportunity to combine writing, current events, and critical thinking. Use the writing prompts below to get your kids started. 1) Gather information (research): Who is running? What do they support or not support? What else is being voted on in your area and why? 2) Take a position (persuasive): Who do you support? Why or why not? 3) Make predictions (critical thinking): What impact will this have on the area? What impact with this have on our family? 4) And for the little ones: What does the inside of a voting booth look like? What are all those signs in the neighbors' yards about? Why are there so many choices to make? Take a day, two days, or an entire week to explore the topic! |
